Need source for phenolic casting resin for parts creation

We are looking for a source that will sell reasonable quantities of Phenolic casting resin for making new, replacement parts. We do our own casting in aluminum, brass, and resins but have a need to make electrically isolated parts.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cismontguy Phenolic resin was used in metallurgy labs to mount specimens for micro examination. It is not cast. The powdered resin is placed in a mold with a piston and heated to a certain temperature and put under high pressure and held until it sets. The resin compresses during the compression operation. Once set, it can be cooled and removed from the mold. It is a thermosetting material, meaning you cannot re-melt it. Buehler is one of the makers of metallurgical mounting presses and sells the resin in retail quantities.

Larry Could try electrical potting resin, some have very similar properties and of cause are brilliant insulators + moisture resistant. There normally 2 part in a self mixing bag, pull the clip and mash together then snip the corner and pour out. Phenolic resin or similar material need help

Thanks for this information. I would really like to speak to someone who has experience using these materials. If someone on the forum can help me, please PM me.

Thanks,

Cismontguy When you say casting, to me that means a liquid or can you do molding which may require some degree of pressure? What properties do you need? Strength, non-tracking, filled? Do you use rubber molds, metal or permanent molds, molds that become part of the product? Do you need agency recognition such as U/L or CSA?

When you say casting, as in a liquid, your options for resins and fillers are fairly limited. Polyesters and epoxies come to mind.

I am by no means an expert in this field, but if you wish to contact me, send a PM.

Tom Looking for source of Phenolic casting materials

We could do either cast the material as a liquid or form it in a mold under pressure. I am just trying to find a source for the materials and learn how to use them. I received a quick reply from Buehler regarding a 5lbs container of their PhenoCure as mentioned above.
